Dear Kay, as for sawdust, I usually buy it in pet shops. There, it is sold clean and pre-treated against possible development of mould and fungi. A pack generally has numerous inclusions of larger chips; so, before I proceed to stuffing, I carefully examine all the sawdust, sort it out and remove these larger things.
